With the pharmaceutical industry over the last year rushing to create a viable vaccine which can effectively inoculate the population against COVID-19, a large demand has arisen for suitable pharma approved cold storage to ensure vaccines are held at correct temperatures to withhold their efficacy.
As we have repeatedly reported, the vaccines have vastly different requirements when it comes to their storage which is proving to be a logistical strain for the pharma industry. CRS Pharma has been committed to delivery competent, efficient and leading storage solutions across the pharmaceutical industry for nearly two decades.
With the temperature requirements of the vaccine fluctuating depending on the pharmaceutical company, our solutions are suitable across the vaccine spectrum being able to effectively handle temperatures from +8 to -70˚C. This enables us to cater to current vaccines on the market and upcoming vaccine including Johnson and Johnson and Novavax.

Of the current COVID vaccines which have been approved, the Astrazeneca and Oxford University collaboration is by far the easiest vaccine for storage and ideal for mass distribution.
Unlike competing developments, the vaccine does not have a strenuous temperature requirement and only needs to be stored at a regular refrigeration temperature of 2-8˚C.
Our Pharmagrade Chilled Stores are ideal for the effective storage of a vaccine ensuring a vaccine retains its efficacy and suitability for inoculation. Available in PG7 (PharmaGrade 7 Pallets) and PG17(PharmaGrade 17 Pallets) our solutions are readily available to effectively store vaccines at the quantity you need.
The Moderna vaccine can be stored in both a pharmaceutical fridge and freezer depending on the point of distribution. Freezing the vaccine allows for its distribution on a mass level nationally and internationally through storage between -25˚C and -15˚C for up to 6 months.
Once thoroughly thawed, the vaccine is viable for storage within a pharmaceutical fridge between 2-8˚C for 30 days after thawing.
The CRS Pharmaceutical Cold Stores are available in a wide range of pallet capacities. Mobile, easily transportable and quick to install makes them a perfect addition to a cold chain distribution. With a standard temperature range of -40 to 60˚C, our cold stores are perfect effectively keeping the Moderna vaccine’s viability.
Once the vaccine has been thawed completely, it will need to go kept within a pharmaceutical chilled fridge to keep its effectiveness for a maximum of 30 days. Available in a 7 or 17-pallet capacity, our solutions are readily available to hold quantities of the vaccine to ensure their safety and viability.
The Pfizer and BioNTech collaboration produced the most complex of the three main vaccines in term of its storage requirements. With an Ultra-Low Temperature of at least -70˚C needed, there is a considerable shortage within the pharmaceutical industry of solutions which are capable of reaching this requirement.
